Service provider appraisal

Wastefile UK manage a network of over 500 independent service providers and a database in excess of 1500 waste facilities, whether that be Material Reclamation Facilities (MRF's) or landfill.

Both the service providers and waste management facilities have undergone a strict appraisal system before approved status is achieved thus ensuring our clients' obligations with regard to Duty of Care under current environmental legislation is protected.

To gain approved status the service provider must be able to demonstrate that they hold all appropriate licences and exemptions for the carriage, management, and disposal of waste in relation to the service they provide. In addition to this, they must provide evidence that they hold an appropriate level of insurance. To verify this information, copies of the relevant paperwork are inspected. The validity of certain documentation is also confirmed by contact with the relevant Environment Agency office.

Our expectations of service providers

• To observe safe working practices and risk assessments produced by Wastefile UK or its clients.
• To look after their health and that of others who may be affected by their actions.
• To utilise the correct safety equipment provided.
• To maintain plant and equipment to an acceptable standard.
• To avoid taking unnecessary risks in order to complete their intended actions.
• To suggest methods of eliminating hazards and to report and warn others of known hazards.
• To refrain from horseplay and the abuse of welfare facilities.
• To wear safety helmets, high visibility jackets, and safety shoes/boots as directed by management.
• To wear/utilise, other personal protective equipment as directed by management.
• To comply fully with any safety rules implemented on any sites/premises operated by Wastefile UK clients.
• To report to the site office prior to siting / exchange / removing skip containers.
• To report to the site manager and subsequently Wastefile UK, any problems incurred on site whilst servicing of their contract.

Disposal sites

The disposal sites are subject to a risk-based assessment and should the risk associated with the types of waste to be handled demand it, then a detailed audit of the disposal facility will be carried out.

Conforming to our policies

All Wastefile UK service providers will conform to both the Service Provider's Safety Policy and Guidelines issued to them prior to the award of the approval status.
