"At the end of 2006, Rok completed a six month trial of Wastefile UK as our preferred supplier of waste management services. During the trial we developed a much better understanding of how we should work with Wastefile to ensure Rok complies with new legislation, to promote solutions that avoid sending waste to landfill, and, crucially, to get good value for money. The arrangement with Wastefile was certainly tested and questioned thoroughly thanks to the feedback we received from our businesses. As a result of what we have learned, we have placed a list of frequently asked questions on the Supply Chain pages of Roknet.

Case studies, such as Nick Ford's at Stratus House in Exeter which won a special Rok environmental award and demonstrates how working with Wastefile led to a considerable environmental and cost saving, will be publicised to highlight best practice.

Our relationship with Wastefile UK will continue to assist in reducing the use of landfill through increased segregation and in reducing the total cost of waste from projects. It will also help guarantee compliance with ever more rigid legislation, such as the requirement for Site Waste Management Plans under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act. The Rok SHE Team will be giving training on these requirements in February.

New initiatives will also be launched that offer a range of waste solutions to support our Maintenance business needs."
