Site Waste Management Update

Amendments to the first draft of the SWMP regulations, released with the consultation last year, are due for imminent publication. Following completion of the site waste management plan consultation, the intent is for the regulations to come into force on the 6th April, with the proposed amendments amounting to:

• A raise of the project threshold to £300,000
• The maximum penalty for non-compliance will now be £50,000, but the usual custodial penalties found in environmental legislation will not apply.
• Reporting requirements will be in a reduced form, and possibly removed altogether.
